DAY+22: La rentree des classes

First assignment after saying no to work for the past 2 months.
As I'm a lucky bastard, it was for Vogue Paris.
Which obviously kicks ass as a magazine, but also has the nicest team.
Getting to collaborate after being in my own head for so long was like taking the first sip of coffee after a long caffeine free break.
The photos turned out so good, I couldn't be happier.
It will be in the february issue.

Premier boulot, apres avoir dis non a tout ces deux derniers mois.
Quel plaisir de collaborer apres avoir ete tout seul a editer et imprimer pendant si longtemps.
Les photos dechirent, j'ai hate que le magazine sorte.
Ce sera dans le numero de fevrier de vogue.

J'ai vendu 5 photos.
Je n'esperais rien en ces temps plus que frisquets.
Etre satisfait de mes tirages et mon installation etait deja une tres bonne suprise. Moi qui m'attendait a ne voire que les defauts.
C'est donc une cerise sur le gateau.

DAY +10: If it's not documented, it never happened

I've been slacking big time. But will post images of the installation tomorrow.

I don't know if it's the sheer exhaustion or some defense mechanism,
but it all felt like an out of body experience.

DAY +3: I just awoke

Je viens de me réveiller d'un profond sommeil bien merité.
Un petit message de remerciement pour tous les encouragements, les conseils et surtout pour m'avoir laisser vous photographier sans masques.

From long hours of seemingly dreamless sleep.
A little message for everyone who let me take their picture, gave me advice, pushed me when I was dragging.

TODAY is the day

I was expecting to be a nervous wreck.
But I am just jumpy and elated.

DAY-1: The result

Walking through this morning.

People just walked in. Bye.

DAY-2: Really this was yesterday

Awesome installers.

DAY-1: No time for nothing

Installed non stop since 8 am and now we have a preview showing.
Just got off the ladder 5 minutes ago and people should start arriving about now.
So no time for blogging.
But I'll type until people get ghere. Instead of getting nervous.

J'aurai du mettre ces photos en lignes hier. Mais j'etais dans l'avion, et il n'y a pas wifi ou je loge. Qui l'eut cru?
Je suis a la gallerie. On a commence juste l'installation d'une photo en version "papier peint".
J'ai hate de voir le resultat. C'est mon dernier motif d'angoisse. Apres ca, il n'y a plus qu'a choisir et mettre en place. Que ca.

Technically cheating a little.
This post was ready yesterday but , in a shocking turn of events, I couldn't get service on my laptop while I traveled and where I stayed last night.
I'm down in Atlanta now. We're just starting the installation of a wallpaper print. It's really the last reason for anguish.
If it turns out as I hoped, I only have to install and edit the other photos on the wall. Piece of cake. Hum...

DAY-7: Who needs nails anyway?

Came down to Brazil for a few days.
Barely saw Rio, but loving Sao Polo.
This city is amazing but the relaxing part of the plan didn't quite work out.
I am soon going to hit blood if I can't stop bitting my nails.
And I just crashed my toe in furniture, fretting about invite problems at 4am.
On my way back to NY today, hope to come back South soon.

Ca y est. J'ai fini tous les tirages. Et la selection.
J'ai presque bonne mine sur cette photo, je comprends pas trop comment. J'ai pas beaucoup vu la lumiere du jour ces dernieres semaines.

All prints. Finalized.
I almost look sunkissed for some reason, when it feels like I haven't seen the light of day in weeks.

DAY -17: Still printing

Je dois envoyer mes tirages a l'encadreur avant la fin de la semaine. Mais je passe toujours toutes mes soirees au labo.
Il faut croire que je serai la jusqu'a ce que fed ex sonne a la porte.
A partir de demain, je poste un photo par jour.

Only 3 days left until I have to send my prints to be framed and here I am, still at LTI overtime.I guess I'll be printing until the fedex guy knocks on the door.
Starting tomorrow, I'll post a photo a day.

I guess sometimes the best road is a full circle.
My friend Caroline presented a brilliant first draft for the invitation, and I had to make lots and lots of suggestions to finally go back to square one.

Best way to spend the day. At LTI, my lab. No phones, no email.
Just photos to work on.
Quel bonheur de s'enfermer dans mon labo, sans telephone ni email.
Et avancer a tatons vers le tirage parfait. Du moins parfait pour aujourd'hui.
